MATCOR is looking for a Field Sales Engineer to join our team.  The Field Sales Engineer will oversee, schedule, supervise and perform duties involved with assessment, testing, evaluation and installation of cathodic protection systems.  This position will also be responsible for the development of new business through customer visits and product demonstrations along with supporting our Account Managers.


  • Prepare cost estimates and sketches as required
  • Occasionally manage cathodic protection installation and testing
  • Install cathodic protection systems, reference electrodes, junction boxes, cables, and rectifiers
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, resolving installation issues and conflicts
  • Design through analysis of test data and calculations, impressed and galvanic current cathodic protection 
  • Ability to make decisions on engineering problems and methods relevant to corrosion control
  • Pursue business in Energy, Power and other markets where a fit exists
  • Identify, develop and grow new accounts through activities such as cold/warm calling, meetings, presentations, trade shows, follow-up on marketing-generated leads, and other agreed-upon methods 
  • Evaluate new products and coatings for corrosion control
  • Establish CC and CP procedures and specifications for Company and personnel, and provide technical support concerning corrosion control
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal code, including Pipeline Integrity 
  • Diagnose and recommends remedies for system difficulties observed during survey
  • Manage client expectations within scope

Critical Responsibilities:

  • Occasionally function as Crew Leader
  • Recommend system modifications as needed
  • Work on the preparation of survey and final job reports 

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing and walking required throughout the day 
  • Occasional climbing required
  • Frequent stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting required
  • Occasional computer-related activities, such as typing and viewing a computer monitor are required  
  • Requires travel to project and client sites
  • Frequent driving is required
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • 3 years related work experience
  • NACE CP2 Certification preferred
  • Strong organization skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills  
  • This position involves travel on average 50% of the time however if you live in a remote location, likely more than 75% on average
