An expert in the field of cathodic protection, MATCOR offers proprietary corrosion protection products, installation, cathodic protection testing, maintenance and complete corrosion protection project management. MATCOR specializes in protecting the infrastructure of the oil and gas, electric utility, transportation and water industries.

MATCOR is looking for a Horizontal Directional Driller for cathodic protection pipeline application to safely and efficiently operate our HDD rig.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate drill rig and equipment during the system installation process
  • Manual labor associated with installing, repairing, and servicing conventional, deep well, and HDD ground beds
  • Loading and unloading equipment and materials
  • Prepare construction site and clean up when job is completed
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, tampers, and rakes
  • Safely drive trucks and pull trailers with equipment and materials to construction sites
  • Operate equipment safely (backhoe, trencher, mini excavator, auger, and forklift)
  • Perform routine/preventative maintenance and inspection on equipment
  • Keep truck and warehouse area clean
  • Provide and maintain accurate paperwork
  • Other duties as requested by Supervisor


Required Capabilities (describe scope of knowledge and ability of the position)

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) from state of residence
  • 2-5 year of experience operating HDD (Horizontal Directional Drill) equipment with locator
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in heavy equipment operation and general maintenance of (backhoe, trencher, mini excavator, auger, and forklift)
  • Basic computer and math skills
  • Must be able to pass DOT drug test and physical
  • Must follow DOT regulations
  • Able to work outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to extremes of climate and temperatures
  • Experience in the corrosion industry, pipeline construction, or underground utilities
  • Must be able to lift and carry 75 lbs.
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must be willing to work long hours such as 12 hour shifts
  • Must work well with others and be willing to learn from mentors and others in the shop and field
